The following vendor agents have been beat upon with this tool with the following results. This file should not be considered endorsement nor flame against any manufacturer its just our results with the various equipment: -- Livingston (Lucent) Pormasters (all variations of this thing). Very quick and responsive. * The only problems we have discovered with the Lucent equipment as of yet is on the writes, the write takes place just fine its the ASN 1 response from the unit gets all munged up. After close examination we determined its one of them famous buffer overruns in the ComOS, its not security related so I don't suspect it will be corrected anytime soon. * The route table mib on this equipment (all the ones I was able to test atleast) is screwed in the netmask department. -- IBM (aix) This works rather nicely (surprised the hell out of me) -- IBM (os/400) This works OK, as well (even more surprised) -- Linux (cmu) This works, though its a bit hairy setting it up on the linux side. -- WellFleet (Baynetworks) so-so in the results here. When it works it works very nicely. Though this isn't limited to just this program, their own software screws up constantly. -- Cisco Hmm... This is a problem. could be a configuration problem on our ciscos but I'm not sure I'd really like some feedback on this one. For jochen these work ok: - 3000 Software (IGS-K), Version 9.1(10) - IOS (tm) 5200 Software (C5200-I-L), Version 11.2(8)P - IOS (tm) 1000 Software (C1000-Y-M), Version 11.2(6) However, obey the golden rule for Cisco: never trust the private MIB! On the cisco switchs something is fubar as we get random numbers of interfaces back when walking that tree.. -- 3com It works ok.. A bit sluggish at times. -- Visual Networks (HP WanProbes) It works ok.. However, their probes have the most interesting stuff in the enterprise branch, and there seems to be no public MIB :(. -- NBase It works ok. -- ADC Kentrox Pacesetter PRO -- Works just fine, haven't managed to locate the private mib description file as yet. -- Ascend Its been reported to work ok with this gear though you have to deal with ascends kooky agent.. (interfaces move around) -- Gandalf It also seems to work fine with Gandalfs. Horrible things, but good compression. Again, strange results, because it gives ifOutOctets and friends as being post-compression figures if applicable. But GxSNMP appears to work fine. I couldn't get the write to work, though, but that may be the config on the Gandalf I tried - I don't have anything to hand that can reconfig that anyway. I think it needs PF1 keys, and probably incense and chanting. If you have experience or other results mail em to me and I'll update this file. Greg
